Anniversary weekend, part one: a trail run/hike to the top of a mountain.

For some reason, we thought it would be a good idea as part of our anniversary weekend celebration to run to the top of a mountain. Maybe a subconscious choice with deep symbolism. Something about how marriage can sometimes feel like you are running to the top of a mountain- it may feel hard and impossible, but you just have to persevere, because there are so many rewarding and beautiful moments despite the sometimes difficulties. I don't know, just a thought.

Anyway, our trail run turned into a hike. There's something about running up a mountain that makes you realize you are moving a lot slower than you would be if you were just hiking. We made it to the top, enjoyed the feeling of standing above everything else together, and took time to stop and enjoy the beauty along the way.
