An Escape from Grad School

This past weekend I traveled to my favorite place in the world, Yosemite, with my favorite people in the world.

John Muir wrote, "As long as I live, I'll hear waterfalls and birds and winds sing. I'll interpret the rocks, learn the language of flood, storm and the avalanche. I'll acquaint myself with the glaciers and wild gardens, and get as near the heart of the world as I can."

I like to try to get as near the heart of the world as I can, too.

  1. I'm so handsome in those pictures, nature's cool too though.

I liked the the quote, I will share it with my students when I talk about he necessary practice of reflection and quiet that is so lacking in their lives.

you were cute in the pictures too by the way

  2. Yosemite is one of my FAVORITE places as well. As a kid my family took many summer vacations there -- especially Tuolomne Meadows, though we often visited the valley as well. Great photos! and great quote from J. Muir.
