Dear Cambria Madison: one week old.

Dear Cambria Madison,

You are here and you are a week old! I have yet to write down your birth story, but I want you to know that when you were born, and the doctor held you up and said, “It’s a girl,” and then placed you on my chest, I was so emotional, and that was one of the best moments of my life. I get teary eyed just thinking about it. What a powerful thing it is to bring a human into the world, and what an overwhelming sense of love and adoration I have for you. I want to freeze time, and pause in this beautiful and raw season of life. We are exhausted and I am sure I will have dark circles under my eyes for the next year or more, but your dad adores you, I adore you, and your big brother adores you more than I could have ever hoped. He is such a good big brother to you already, stopping to sing, “twinkle twinkle little star” or “good morning, good moooorning, i love my baby poo.” He keeps saying, “that’s a baby right there,” as if we could have forgotten you are here with us. He gets so excited to see you when we pick him up from school. He gives you lots of hugs and kisses without our prompting. He hasn’t held you yet, because you are “too big.” You have fit into our family so well, and we couldn’t be more in love with you.

Love,
Mama
